Referbacks

  • Altar Egos: Michael's performance as Peter Pan, maritime lawyer, in The Trial of Captain Hook makes another appearance.
  • Righteous Brothers: After his earlier laundry accident, Franklin is re-dyed and back in action. Also, when Franklin is called to testify, the band plays a version if the It Ain't Easy song from Franklin Comes Alive.
  • Pilot: George Michael and Maeby consider the fake wedding to freak their family out.

Trivia

The Show

Behind the Scenes

  • This was the first in a set of four episodes that aired on Friday, February 10th, 2006 (opposite the opening ceremonies of the 2006 Winter Olympics), that marked the end of original Arrested Development episodes on FOX.

Allusions and References

  • My Name is Judge: The magazine ads featuring a talking Judge Reinhold refers to a series of generally unpopular talking ads for My Name is Earl. The use of Judge Reinhold is obviously a joke at the expensive of his unusual first name. Reinhold previously played himself as a judge in Clerks.
  • Coma Mother: The woman sharing Buster's hospital room and her pro-Euthanasia son are references to the Terri Schiavo controversy. See Wikipedia's Terri Schiavo article for details.
  • George Bush Doesn't Care About Black Puppets: The sloagan on Franklin's shirt is a reference to when Kanye West deviated from the script at a nationally televised benefit concert for Hurricane Katrina to make a political statement, which concluded with the rapper stating that "George Bush doesn't care about black people."
  • William Hung & His Hung Jury: The Mock Trial with J. Reinhold house band is lead by William Hung, a failed American Idol contestant who gained fame for his enthusiasm and total lack of singing ability.
  • Bud Cort is now in session: 70's character actor Bud Cort, probably best known for playing the lead in the dark comedy Harold and Maude, hosts his own court show.
