Plot Overview
Bill slapped his forehead when Liz managed to convince herself she had never lied to the police. Bill refused when Liz begged him to continue the charade with Lenore to protect himself, but John felt he shouldn't go making any public proclamations about the wedding being off. Bill, who worried he'd be forced to marry Lenore to keep up appearances, declared even being charged with murder wouldn't change his mind. Walter informed Buckley he wanted to question Bill, then they learned Pat drove Missy to the Matthews. Ms. Klein entered with the news that the gun was unregistered. Liz protested when Buckley showed up to take Bill for questioning. Liz laid into John for cooking up with Pat that comic opera to reunite Bill and Missy. She was at a loss for words when Dru told her off. Buckley was annoyed that Walter wouldn't let him sit in on the meeting with Bill. After Liz marched to the kitchen with an air of injury, Dru told John that when he was assistant D.A., Walter had been very much in love with his fiancé, Carrie Jordan, but that she'd broken his heart by running off with his best friend, Arnold Lee, assistant superintendent of the Wayland factory. They worried that subconsciously Walter would hold a grudge against Missy for wanting to leave Danny for Bill. Bill was frustrated when Walter implied he didn't believe in Sam's existence.
