Plot Overview

Clutching a straw to turn it into a pillar of stone, Bill rushed to Dru, grabbed him by the shoulders, and said that Sam must be Danny's killer. Missy told the 3 lawyers that Danny got the gun and made the plans right after seeing Sam. They tried to convince Missy that staying at Mary's would help stop the broadcast that she and Bill are still in love, then after she and Bill said good-bye, Pat offered to drive her over. Sam returned home, lit a cigarette, and read a lot about Danny's murder in the paper. Dru warned Bill that this "Sam" was the proverbial needle in a haystack. Liz felt she would be able to claim ignorance when Dru told her Missy would eventually tell the police the truth about her relationship with Bill. It wasn't at all displeasing to Liz when she gleaned that John and Dru worried Missy was a suspect. At the cafeteria, Russ tried to take Alice's mind off Missy's troubles, then changed the subject when she wanted to know why he was worried about Bill too. An ash tray brimmed with cigarettes as Sam mulled over the paper. Sam's sister Ada returned home, plopped down on the couch, and complained about the rich dames she has to take guff from at work. He recognized the surname from the paper when Ada told him Mrs. William Matthews had canceled her 10:00 appointment. He ignored Ada's question about Danny by mentioning her daughter Rachel had called to say she'd be out late modeling. He showed her the paper to explain why he wouldn't be able to give her the money he promised to send Rachel to Hollywood.
