Plot Overview

Danny laughed and whispered in Liz's ear that his price was half a million dollars, paid tomorrow morning at 10:00 A.M. Missy convinced Bill her idea was best, and he told her not to worry about Lenore. When Danny speculated about Will's trust fund, Liz insisted she couldn't convert her assets to cash at a moment's notice, but Danny was inflexible. Bill found Liz's note, then poured himself a drink, and ruminated over Danny's machinations. Burning with a quiet, murderous fury, Madge mulled over Danny's words before bolting purposefully from the restaurant with the waitress looking at her agog. Liz returned home stealthily and poured herself a good stiff drink. When Bill caught her red-handed, she lied that she'd come downstairs to give in to a dissolute impulse. He was puzzled by her lack of reaction to his plans for tomorrow. Scared to death of the charade she must play, Missy stepped off the elevator and noticed to her surprise the room door was standing a few inches ajar. Leaving it open, she found the room in disarray. Upon closer inspection, she was traumatized to see Danny lying motionless behind the desk.
