Animaniacs is an animated comedy that aired on Fox Kids for two seasons and Kids' WB for three seasons.
Yakko, Wakko and Dot Warner were three Warner Bros. cartoon stars of the 1930s the studio never spoke of. That's because their cartoons were so bad and made no sense whatsoever that the studio had the cartoons sealed off in the compound's water tower. Sixty years later, the Warners escaped, unleashing their irrationality on any subject they may come across. Their regular foil include studio psychiatrist Dr. Otto Scratchensniff, studio chief Thaddeus Plotz, Ralph the dimwitted security guard, and voluptuous Hello Nurse (so called that when Yakko and Wakko see her, they call out "Helloooooooooo, nurse!")
Along with the misadventures of the Warners, are the Goodfeathers (avian send-up of Martin Scorcese's movie Goodfellas), Slappy Squirrel (a septugenarian rodent), Pinky and the Brain (two lab mice trying to take over the world), Rita and Runt (a homeless cat and dog pair), Chicken Boo (a quixotic, clueless fowl), Buttons and Mindy (a luckless dog trying to protect the family toddler from disaster), the Hip Hippos (a trendy, affluent hippo couple being tracked down by poachers), and Katie Kaboom (a teenybopper prone to destroying her family's home by temper tantrums). Also interspersed was a short segment called "Good Idea/Bad Idea," narrated by Motel 6 spokesman Tom Bodett.
Amblin Entertainment co-produced Animaniacs with Warner Bros. Television, which also distributes the series.
