You Can't Do That on Television is a Canadian sketch comedy that first aired locally in 1979 before airing internationally in 1981. The series features pre-teen and teenaged actors in a sketch comedy format that is similar to Laugh-In and Saturday Night Live. Each episode featured a specific theme that is normally related to pop culture at the time. It is also notable for lauching the careers of many performers, including alternative rock songer-songwirter Alanis Morissette and screenwriter Bill Prady.

You Can't Do That on Television was produced by and aired on CJOH-TV, a CTV station based in Ottawa, which was later marketed specifically for an American audience. After the show ended in 1990, Nickelodeon continuted airing reruns until 1994, when it was replaced with All That.
