Wolverine and the X-Men (2008– ) is an animated superhero program based on the Marvel Comics' superhero team the X-Men. It's the fourth such series, and much of the creative team on this series previously worked on the third series, X-Men: Evolution, although the two series feature rather different interpretations of the characters. The show currently airs in Canada on both YTV and Teletoon. This came about because of a deal for Teletoon to get all of the new Marvel programming, but YTV already had the right to this show, so YTV premiered all of the season one episodes, and Teletoon only aired episodes already seen on YTV. In the USA, it airs on NickToons Network alongside another series based on a Marvel character, Iron Man: Armored Adventures.

The X-Men is a team composed of mutants, which are people that are born with superhuman powers and abilities. Following an explosion which occurred at Xavier Institute, the school which the X-Men are taught and live at, Professor Xavier, their mentor and a telepath, and Jean Grey, also a telepath, disappear. Following the explosion, the team dissolved and went their own ways. A year later, the Mutant Response Division, led by Senator Kelly, starts taking mutants into custody, which causes Wolverine to regroup the X-Men.

Before the show finished airing its first season of 26 episodes in Canada or even began airing in USA, a second season of 26 episodes was ordered.
