Wolverine and the X-Men is an animated superhero program based on the Marvel Comics' superhero team the X-Men. It's the fourth such series, and much of the creative team on this series previously worked on the third series, X-Men: Evolution, although the two series feature rather different interpretations of the characters. The show aired new episodes in Canada on YTV and in the USA on Nicktoons.

The X-Men is a team composed of mutants, which are people that are born with superhuman powers and abilities. Following an explosion which occurred at Xavier Institute, the school which the X-Men are taught and live at, Professor Xavier, their mentor and a telepath, and Jean Grey, also a telepath, disappear. Following the explosion, the team dissolved and went their own ways. A year later, the Mutant Response Division, led by Senator Kelly, starts taking mutants into custody, which causes Wolverine to regroup the X-Men.

The show was renewed for a second season in December 2008, shortly after it premiered in Canada and before it even began airing in the US. Nicktoons confirmed they would be picking the show up for a second season in May 2009. Despite all of this, it was announced in March 2010 that the show would not be returning for a second season.
