Wolf's Rain (2003) is a fantasy anime series created by Keiko Nobumoto, who also worked on hit anime series like Cowboy Bebop. It ran for a full 26 episodes simultaneously on Animax and Fuji TV in Japan. These episodes were followed by four OVA episodes that were released on DVD in January and February 2004.
Taking place in a post-apocalyptic world, the series largely centers around a pack of young wolves seeking to meet a prophecy which states that the wolves along with a woman called "Flower Maiden" will discover paradise and thereby restart the world. However, despite this prophecy, the pack of wolves is forced to blend in with humanity because they were thought to have been hunted to extinction.
The series was licensed by Bandai Entertainment and broadcast in the United States on Adult Swim in 2004. The series underwent numerous edits due to time constraints, but no content was deemed objectionable by the network's Standards and Practices. One change made to the series, however, was that four recap episodes were removed and replaced with the OVAs.
