Plot Overview
Cristina Aguirre of Texas is a punk-rock loving, tattooed & pierced mother who runs a laid-back house with her husband, Allan (who is also tattooed and pierced) and three teenage kids: 18-year-old Xaundelle, 16-year-old Corin and 14-year-old Saphraine, who have their own "post-punk" band & home-school themselves. Allan runs a music marketing company from home and often invites the musicians he promotes to stay with the family. Cristina works full time doing word processing and doesn't clean up after her family. The Aguirres treat their kids as equals and raise them to be open-minded individuals.
Cristina swaps lives with Wendy Ray of South Carolina. Even though Wendy works full time, her husband Bill expects her to cook, clean and have dinner on the table by the time he gets home. Wendy's 15-year-old daughter, Brittany has to help out with the housework while 12-year-old son Dustin's only chore is to occasionally take out the trash. Brittany is not allowed to date or wear clothes that her parents don't approve of. If their kids break the rules, Wendy and Bill make them write out Bible verses a hundred times as punishment; they also create tension between the kids by referring to Brittany as the "bad one" and Dustin as the "good one."
