Allusions and References
- The episode makes several Star Trek references. From Lisa's apparent physical attraction to Captain Picard to her Scotty impression. Additionally, the school's command centre is modelled on the bridge from the original series to Scampi's halting speech pattern mimicking William Shatner's Captain Kirk. There's even a parody of the famous scene from Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan where Kirk screams "Khan!"
- Despite the Star Trek reference, Superintendent Calamari is clearly a parody of Emperor Palpatine from Star Wars.
