Wacky Races is an animated comedy that airs on Boomerang. It premiered on Boomerang’s subscription service SVOD in 2017 then began airing on the cable/satellite outlet on February 22, 2018.
Much like the original 1968 series, this involves cross-country races to determine "the world's wackiest racer." Here there are marked differences. First, many of the original racers are gone--the only holdovers are Peter Perfect, Penelope Pitstop, Dick Dastardly and Muttley, and the Gruesome Twosome. New to the roster is boy genius I.Q. Ickly (a placecard for original racer Professor Pat Pending). Second, the race is no longer a pivotal factor to each episode as the personal lives of the racers are. And there is no clearly defined winner of any race. There are other secondary characters as well, such as Penelope's black-sheep sister Pandora Pitstop, announcer Brick Crashman, and pirates Captain Dash, Bluebeard and Davey Bones, a.k.a. the PDQ Crew.
