Plot Overview

Syaoran has a disturbing dream from his childhood, right after he lost his eye. He awakens in a room with Sakura and Mokona. Fai and Kurogane are nowhere to be seen, though Mokona is sure they landed in the same world. A group of girls runs in, happy to see him awake. The owner of the troupe, Suzuran, is not as happy, since males are not supposed to be allowed inside, but she decides to be generous.

Fai and Kurogane are on temple grounds elsewhere. Fai figures they must not be far from Mokona, since they can still communicate. The pair is attacked by men from the temple, but they are no match for Kurogane and the owner of the temple, Sōseki, tells them to stop. He offers Fai and Kurogane a place to stay.

Syaoran and Sakura watch the performance by the troupe, and Syaoran compares it to a circus. Both of them remember seeing a circus when they were younger. Suzuran comes up behind them while they are talking, and mentions the troupe's god.

Fai and Kurogane are eating a meal, but Fai senses a magic barrier around a nearby building. Sōseki takes them to the building, where a statue of their god Yasha sits. The statue is crying, and it might be related to the god belonging to the Suzuran troupe.

Syaoran examines the statue of Ashura belonging to the Suzuran troupe, and it is explained that it is believed to bring calamity because of what Ashura represents.

The next morning, there is no performance for the troupe, so they have a welcoming feast for Syaoran and Sakura instead. Syaoran must dress like a girl since men are not allowed inside the troupe's home. The meal is interrupted by a group from the temple, who would like to smash the statue. Suzuran and Syaoran fight them off.

The men return to the temple, where they are scolded by Sōseki for going off in the first place. Fai and Kurogane overhear the men talking and think the youth that fought them off might be Syaoran, until it comes up that it was a girl.

Syaoran performs some tricks, and Suzuran says that he would be great in their show. That night, Syaoran goes outside to look for Fai and Kurogane, and Sakura joins him. They spot Suzuran in the street and follow her, where she meets with Sōseki. The two of them are in love, despite the apparent rivalry of their respective gods. Syaoran and Sakura head back to Ashura's temple. The ground begins to shake, the statues glow, and the sky splits.
