Plot Overview

Tamsin, Lizzie and Callum, who are on their way to Sydney, and Ned and Nic, who are on their way to London, all meet up in Bangkok, Thailand. When an exploding boat engine kills several people including Lizzie and Callum's travel partner Dave, the group is very shaken. Callum admits that he was having a homosexual affair with Dave all along. Lizzie breaks up with him and decides to return home. She and Ned and Nic continue to London, while Tamsin and Callum go on to Sydney.

  • Family Tree: Tamsin and Camille are the daughters of Sarah and Simon. Simon remarries to Cecily. Tamsin is engaged to Sam and a friend of Lizzie. Callum is Lizzie's boyfriend. Sarah and Lydia were friends. Ned is the son of Jeremy and his first wife Lydia. Jeremy has since remarried to Annabel. Nic has been a friend of Ned since childhood. Flick is Nic's girlfriend.

Arc Advancement

Happenings

  • Ned's father Jeremy and his second wife Annabel want to adopt a child since she can't conceive children. A routine medical check for the adoption agency reveals that Jeremy suffers from Young's syndrome and is infertile. Ned can't be his biological son.
  • Callum reveals to Lizzie that Dave was traveling with them because he was having a homosexual affair with him. She breaks up with him and decides to return to London.
  • In the emotional aftermath of the accident, Nic and Tamsin kiss and make love—cheating on their respective partners—before going separate ways.
  • In London, Nic surprises his girlfriend Flick, who he hasn't seen for eight months. The surprise turns mutual when he sees that she's living with another man.

Allusions and References

  • Neighbours: Ned starring as Trent Carter in the fictitious Australian soap Next Door and then moving to London is a spoof on actor Daniel MacPherson's role in Neighbours and his subsequent move to the UK where he starred in The Bill.
