Transformers: Cybertron is an action anime that has a questionable setting due to miscommunication between the American producers and the Japanese production studio.

Although it was intended by Hasbro to continue the storylines from predecessors Transformers: Armada and Transformers: Energon in the new series, the resulting production by Gonzo was a show that actually rebooted the continuity of the universe. However, presumably because all of Hasbro's marketing and toys exhibited the storyline that they had proposed for Japanese developers, the American version of the series made an effort to link it with the other two, the end result we will have yet to see. Because it's currently only aired until episode 31 as of this writing date.

In Japan the show finished up last year (2005) and went under the name Transformers Galaxy force. Apart from story wise some of major changes are the names, for instance Optimus prime is Galaxy convoy, Sky fire is Dreadlock, Hot shot is Exellion, Megatron is named Master Magatron and so forth. This is also the first series where we get to meet primus the creator of all transformers. It is also with this series that primus has for the first time ever been made into a toy like Unicron was with Armada (although a previous toy version of unicron was made it was never put into production). Cybertron also brings back Soundwave (decepticon) but with an updated verison instead of being a casset player he is now a bird and has a "spy! satelite instead of cassettes.
