Season Three of The X-Files devotes more time to the overall myth arc of the show than the previous two seasons. In Piper Maru a new race of alien, the black oil alien, is first introduced. A stand out episode this season is Jose Chung's "From Outer Space", a spoof on alien conspiracy theories.
