The TV IV:Proposals/Rating Shows By Users

I think that it would be neat to have show ratings, like a 5 star or out of 10 rating system for those who are wondering if a show is any good or not. Especially for shows on DVD or shows that arent very popular, but are still good. (Unsigned Comment by Schlabbalabba)

1. We've been working on trying to get some sort of polling system up recently. Also, the problem with rating shows is that the only people who would be inclined to vote on a show are people who like the show and want to bring its rating up. It happens on a lot of sites with this feature-- just look at TV.com where some less-deserving shows are often rated "Perfect" by people. There are also some shows that are very polarizing, particularly reality shows like American Idol and Survivor which, while they do possess some quality traits, people will go ahead and vote them down because of the irrational dislike they have for it. I don't feel that an anonymous rating system will give anyone any true indication to the quality of the show. --Wizardryo | ✎ 01:51, 23 February 2006 (EST)
2. I think that instead of that, we could have a thumbs up/down system and people can explain WHY they like or hate the show. -Schlabbalabba
3. I don't see a problem. If mostly people who likes shows rate them, then that's going to be true for all shows, so it should equal out. Popular shows will have more irrational haters but also more irrational lovers. Seems like it would all balance out. --MateoP 16:12, 21 July 2006 (EDT)
