Plot Overview
The episode begins with Pat giving a ride to son of new preacher, Bernard Northrup, coming to Mineral City. They are shot at by three shooters on horses when Nellybelle stalls, three men working for Simmons want to stop preacher from coming, Roy comes in time to defend them. Pat introduces son to Dale in cafe, where old Mike pays Dale for his meal. Simmons men beat up city drunk Mike. Dale, Roy and minister's son witness a child pretend wedding ceremony for Will Smith and Maggie Jones performed by another kid as minister. When Roy, Dale and the sheriff discover Mike beaten up in his cabin, he is about to tell about the gang who beat him when he is shot by one of the Simmons gang. Dale finds a gun outside Mike's cabin, then also sees Northrup take some money from Mike while Roy and the sheriff are chasing the shooter (who gets away by jumping off a cliff into the nearby river). Roy goes into town and into Simmons' office inside the saloon. He accuses one of Simmons' men of being bit by Bullet and having a bandage on his wrist, wonders if the man lost the gun Roy is carrying from the cabin. Roy gets into a fight with two of Simmons' men, then gets slugged by Simmons on the head with gun. They tie Roy up and put him in the closet, then go to Mike's cabin to move the plate and print presses used to print the counterfeit money. Dale decides to follow Northrup out to Mike's, while Pat is hounded by Bullet to help Roy in the closet. Pat gets into a fight with one of the Simmons gang, then discovers Roy with Bullet's help. Pat unties Roy, and they both follow Dale to Northrup. Northrup is spying on Simmons gang moving the presses when he is surprised by Dale, and shows his US Treasury identification to clear up the confusion. Dale and Northrup get caught by one of Simmons' men and tied and put in the wagon carrying the print press. Roy, the sheriff and the posse catch up to Simmons' gang and take them all back to the town jail. Roy rescues Dale and Northrup from the wagon. Later Roy learns from Dale that Northrup is actually Reagan or Riggins, a government treasury agent posing as minister Northrup's son in order to capture the gang of counterfeiters. Reagan leaves with Pat as Pat goes to pick up the real minister Northrup's son. Nellybelle backfires all the way out of town.
