The Rising Son (2009—) is a soap opera parody sitcom broadcast on Adult Swim about biblical figures taking on typical sitcom themes. Jesus, Joseph, Mary, Mary Magdalene and Pontius Pilate all make appearances in the show.
The production history of The Rising Son is a mystery. The series received almost no promotion, other than brief mentions in the bumps and a listing on the schedule, it did not appear on Adult Swim's online streaming video service and does not appear anywhere else on the Adult Swim website. When it aired, it was buried at 5:00AM Sunday mornings, after a block of anime programming which it doesn't fit in with.
Only four episodes were produced and aired.
