The New Adventures of Mighty Mouse and Heckle & Jeckle was an updated version of Terrytoons' two most popular theatrical cartoon short subjects. Filmation Associates produced the series.

The only discernable differences between this Mouse and the Terry original was (a) no operatic singing, and (b) the inherent violence has been diluted. Many fans have harped about Filmation's budgets for the show being even lower than Terrytoons, but some folks who worked on this show (in protest, they would readily admit) would go on to 1987's Ralph Bakshi series Mighty Mouse: The New Adventures, where TV budgets would be buffered by more creative freedom.

Each hour consisted of two Mighty Mouse cartoons, two Heckle and Jeckle cartoons (which fell into the same artistic chasm as anything else from the studio), "Quacula" (a series about a vampire duck trying to scare a bear from a haunted mansion--the character pre-dates Cosgrove-Hall's Count Duckula by three years), and "The Great Space Chase" (a 16-part serial with the characters sending up Flash Gordon and Star Wars). Also included was "Mighty Mouse Environmental Bulletins" and Heckle & Jeckle's "Homonyms" (to add a little educational karma).

The show was shortened to a half-hour a year later, then moved to Sundays in its final season. In 1982, The Great Space Chase was re-edited into an 80-minute movie which had a limited release to theaters. It later appeared on home video.
