Plot Overview

Tootie sneaks a peak at a list of IQ scores for the students at Eastland Academy and reveals the list to her friends, but she inadvertently causes problems for both Nancy and Sue Ann when the two girls discover they respectively have the highest and lowest IQs on the list. Sue Ann, who had taken pride in being the smartest student at Eastland, is upset by the revelation, while Nancy gets overwhelmed by other students coming to her for help on homework assignments, and both girls consider leaving Eastland because of the IQ score issue. Tootie is required to write lines on a classroom blackboard as punishment when Mrs. Garrett and Mr. Bradley find out about her gossiping about the IQ scores to the girls. Mrs. Garrett tells Nancy and Sue Ann that IQ scores are not as important as what they can achieve in academics as she convinces the girls to stay at Eastland.
