Plot Overview

Ruby asks Lurlene how things went last night with Joel. First Vivien and then Grant startle Brette. Reena finds George at work early and asks to find out more about him. Ruby is excited to learn that Lurlene and Joel are engaged and then Lurlene tells her about their night at Galveston Bay. Joel tells Mark the news of his engagement. George tells Reena he isn't a mystery man and then asks to leave for a while to see Brette. When George leaves Reena decides to contact Meredith in the news department and see if there is anything she can dig up on George St. John. Judith and Grant both voice their concerns for Brette's safety and Vivien also says she can't throw away her vacuum because it was given to her by the other Mrs. Wheeler on their 1st anniversary together. The Detective tells Vicky and Hunt that Christine should be suspended until the investigation is over but Vicky says they can't do that with Rikki's show starting tomorrow. Joel arrives and tells Ruby how the ring he gave Lurlene was his grandma's. Then Joel also tells Ruby that Mark wants to see her and she thinks Mark is going to propose. Rikki arrives and tries to talk Brette out of coming to KVIK later on but to no avail. Then George arrives. Reena tells Vicky she thinks Justin may be getting interested in Ashley again. Rikki leaves and then George tells Judith he is here to see Brette. Grant tells Mark he is concerned for Brette and has security watching her. Then Grant tells Mark he has decided not to use Ruby because she doesn't present the right image for World Oil and also tells him to clean up his office. Elena thanks Rikki for having her on his first show and then they talk about Max and she also tells him it's over between her and Joe. Judith tries to get rid of George. Christine goes over last minute details with Rikki. Then Ruby arrives and tells them the news that Lurlene and Joel are engaged and so with that and his record coming out tomorrow she thought they would have a party at the Coop tomorrow night but Christine tells them that she planned a party for the Boathouse tomorrow night. John tells Vivien he got Mr. Wheeler to the World Oil building in 17 minutes today. Then they make plans to get groceries together. Ruby arrives at Mark's office thinking he is going to ask her to marry him until he gives her a personal check for $10,000. Then Mark tells her that there isn't going to be any contract for her with World Oil. Mark adds that he believes in her but his dad doesn't think she projects the right image for World Oil and Ruby leaves believing he feels she isn't good enough for the Wheelers. Vicky tells Hunt she doesn't like the Detective insinuating that Christine caused the accident. Lurlene tells Joel she would marry him if he didn't have a cent but he tells her that he will come into his own. Elena and Rikki talk about Ruby and then Elena tells Rikki that Billy Joe is coming home tonight and she wonders if Nita will be with him. George convinces Brette to let him drive her to work.
