Plot Overview

Iris tells Dr. Evan Douglass that Alex is not going to return to the hospital. Billy Joe gets money out of the mattress while Nita is away. Joe checks on flights to Nashville. Max and Reena both decide that they have never been happier in their lives. Kate tells Ginny that Barrett called and he is seeing a doctor in Colorado and then Steve enters and tells Kate that he will take care of her until his dad gets back. Ryan visits Rikki and Rikki tells him he has been thinking about the Dennis Carrington case and wants to test a theory on him. Ginny tells Kate that Steve hasn't read his letter from Barrett yet and Kate asks Ginny if she saved Barrett's life last night. Billy Joe leaves and then Nita hopes that Billy Joe will like the new mattress she is having delivered. Evan agrees to Iris' wishes about Alex against his better judgment and then Striker arrives to tell Iris that Rikki may have news about Dennis' case so they leave and then Pete shows up to talk to Evan about Alex. Kate tells Ginny she isn't so sure Barrett will return to the ranch when he is well. Then Ginny tells Kate that she didn't leave Barrett for Ryan but she does love Ryan and then Reena enters and Kate leaves and Reena suggests that Kate might like to have her and Steve move back to the ranch. Pete learns from Evan that Alex is improving and should be speaking soon. Rikki tells Iris and Striker that the tanker the Elena was held hostage on was owned by World Oil and leased by Jim Lawrence and Peter Parnell. Ginny and Reena talk about Barrett and Kate and then Steve shows up as does Ryan. Ryan tells Ginny that Steve will be OK. Max talks to Steve and suggests he read Barrett's letter to him. Nita has the movers take the old mattress and dump it behind his apartment building for trash pick-up. Rikki tells Iris and Striker that he thinks Joe Foster may have killed Chris Shaw. Steve reads the letter from Barrett and Max reassures him that Barrett is coming back. Ryan mentions living in River Oaks to Ginny but she asks if they could live on the ranch and so Ryan thinks maybe Kate would sell them some land to build a house on and then Ryan asks Ginny to marry him and she accepts. Max and Reena talk about their new house and kids and Max mentions that he should just go over to the Harper land and blow up the oil rig. Steve tells Ginny he doesn't want a stepdad. Iris tells Vivien of her visit to the hospital and then learns that Vivien let a man in to see Alex and the man tells Iris that he is Grant Wheeler, Alex's brother. Joe barges in on Nita and pulls a gun and tells her that her husband has something of his and he wants it.
