Teen Titans is the first DC Comics cartoon spinoff not to be part of the Diniverse (or DC Animated Universe) since the 1991 animated Swamp Thing series. Created under the supervision of award winning producer Glen Murakami, Teen Titans aims for a younger audience than other DC cartoon series like Justice League Unlimited and takes a decidedly Americanized anime approach to the look and style of the show.

The series goes through the adventures of the Teen Titans, a team of superheroes based off of the DC Comics series of the same name (particularly the 1982 New Teen Titans series by George Perez and Marv Wolfman) that is comprised of Robin, Cyborg, Starfire, Raven and Beast Boy. The group goes up against villains like The H.I.V.E., Brother Blood, Slade Wilson (also known as Deathstroke the Terminator) and Trigon while still falling back on staples of young adult cartoons that teach kids (in a roundabout way) about discrimination, friendship, teamwork and individualism.

The series ended with its fifth season after Glen Murakami was told that plans for a sixth season had been dropped. Since its finale, a made-for-TV film, Trouble in Tokyo, has been released..

In 2013, Cartoon Network premiered a new version of the Teen Titans, called Teen Titans Go!, which has a more comedic twist and follows the group when they're off duty from fighting crime.
