Team Atlantis was an animated program intended to follow up on the story and characters from the Walt Disney animated feature Atlantis: The Lost Empire. Before the film was even released, Disney had expected it to be a success and started production on a spin-off show to premiere in Fall 2002. However, the film did not do very well at the box office, and a month later the series was cancelled. Episodes had been in various stages of completion at the time, from outlines to nearly complete. Three of the most completed episodes were edited together as the direct-to-video film Atlantis: Milo's Return, with newly animated transition as well as opening and ending.
One episode of note, which had reached the point of storyboards and voice recording, featured the Gargoyles character Demona, thus tying the two programs into the same continuity. However, the new ending added for the video release invalidates this.
