Hooker searches for an assassin who's out to kill a visiting delegate, unaware that his quarry is a man whose life Hooker saved in Vietnam.

The Show

This episode is almost a note-for-note copy of a The Streets of San Francisco episode, "Target: Red", that writer Rick Husky wrote for that series. The Vietnam angle was added to the storyline for the Hooker episode.

Watch the two episodes back-to-back for comparison, and you'll notice that much of the dialogue is the same: William Shatner's lines are similar to those of Karl Malden's, and the Michael Douglas dialogue in the Streets episode is pretty much split between James Darren and Heather Locklear.

Guest-star wise, Vincent Baggetta plays the assassin character that Bill Bixby played on Streets (with the added Vietnam angle for the T.J. Hooker episode), and Morgan Woodward plays the General behind the assassination plot, just as Andrew Duggan did on Streets.
