A Professor Rasmussen comes aboard the Enterprise telling everyone that he is a 26th century historian. He asks the crew to fill out questionaires about technology and significant events of the time, and makes other strange requests. He eventually starts to steal things.

Dr. Rasmussen is in fact a 22nd century opportunist who stole the time-travelling ship from its legitimate 26th century owners. He intends to harvest various discoveries from the future and take them back to his own time where he will become rich.
