From The TV IV

Sons of Anarchy frequently uses licensed music to help establish the atmosphere of the show. It uses mostly traditional style rock and roll recorded by newer less well known artists. Below is a list of the songs used during the series. The series also employs many custom made covers of iconic songs in which series composer Bob Thiele and his staff musicians accompanies various guest musicians as The Forest Rangers.

Two five track iTunes exclusive EPs (Sons of Anarchy: North Country and Sons of Anarchy: Shelter) have been released with songs from the series including the theme song. The collections include most of the series' signature covers. The songs from specific episodes are noted in bold below.

Episode song and artist information comes from the episode pages on the official site. The site requires Macromedia Flash but can play samples of each song. Some of the special made cover songs don't get listed on the official website but usually get mentioned on series composer and music coordinator, Bob Thiele's blog.
