Plot Overview

Farik recruits Eddy Pangetsu for an unspecified mission to Canada, and has Darwyn drive them to the airport. Darwyn acts quickly and stashes his cellphone with Pangetsu's luggage. At the same time, an Islamic religious scholar, Abdal Malik, arrives in the United States, and Farik instructs the other members of the cell to attend a lecture that Malik will be giving.

In his lecture, Malik teaches that killing innocents is wrong, and successfully defends his claims in a bout of verbal sparring with Christian. When the cell regathers with Farik, Tommy flies into a rage while Christian seems depressed. Farik denounces Malik and orders his assassination. Darwyn volunteers for the assassination, and with some help from the CIA is able to get tangled up in a minor traffic accident. Christian returns to speak directly with Malik; he is clearly affected by Malik's ideas.

In Canada, Eddy verifies a shipment of Anthrax, and is told to smuggle it into the United States. By tracking the cellphone, the CIA is able to silently intercept the shipment at the Canadian border. When Eddy arrives in LA, Farik discovers that the anthrax is missing, becomes enraged, and murders Eddy, making it look like Eddy drove off a cliff.

Farik drills Christian about his visit to Malik, informing him that Malik intends to issue a potentially damaging fatwah denouncing the acts of cells such as their own. Christian returns to confront Malik a second time, and after Malik implores him to change his ways and embraces him, Christian assassinates him. Although saving many lives by intercepting the anthrax, Darwyn is despondent over the death of Malik, whom he clearly admired and saw as vital in the internal Islamic struggle.
