Shoot for the Stars is a game show that aired on NBC.
Two teams, each of a celebrity and a civilian, compete. They face a board of 24 numbered squares plus four squares with stars on them. In turn, they call out numbers with each box containing a pair of synonyms that translate into a phrase (example: "sacred/bovine" would translate into "holy cow"). One team member takes the first half and the other teammate translates the other half. Doing so scores money as designated by the box. Selecting one of the Star boxes doubles the money shown. First team to $1500 wins the game.
That team plays a bonus round in translating as many phrases in 60 seconds as possible with the jackpot starting at $1000 and going up $500 until time expires.
This show was revived for ABC in 1986 under the new name Double Talk. It was piloted in 1976 under the name Shoot the Works.
