Sealab 2021 is an animated comedy that aired on Adult Swim. It is a parody of educational, sci-fi cartoons of the 1980's, most notably the series it is based off of Sealab 2020. It is set in an underwater science lab in the near future. It uses general backgrounds from Sealab 2020 as well as its characters, although the personalities are highly altered. The show contains high levels of violence and sex related humor in an outlandish fashion. Generally plots revolve around the consequences of the idiotic and/or criminal behavior of the crew members and often the attempts of the one intelligent crew member, Dr. Quinn, to stop them. The station itself has been frequently destroyed because of these plots and there is only a loose sense of continuity, although occasionally previous plots will be revisited for comic effect.
