My Own Worst Enemy is the first episode of the seventh season of Scrubs, and the one hundred fortieth episode overall.
While, Turk and Dr. Cox obsessively look for a way to heal a charismatic patient, Elliot and J.D. struggle with their respective relationships.

- First Line: Though he's appeared in the background occasionally throughout the entire series, this episode featured the first line by Seymour Beardfacé, otherwise known as Dr. Beardface. He doesn't seem to like his nickname.

- Hoosiers: The movie which J.D. is talking about is Hoosiers a drama about the basketball team for a small-town high school starring Gene Hackman and Dennis Hopper. The movie was based on the true story of the 1954 Indiana state championship in which every high school team, regardless of school size, competed in a single statewide competition.
- J.D.: I watched Hoosiers last night and I like sports now.
- Tony Shalhoub: Tony Shalhoub is a comedic actor who stars in the titular role of Monk. The series is a dramedy about an obsessive-compulsive, yet incredibly gifted detective who solves crimes in San Francisco. Shalhoub frequently is nominated for the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series Emmy and beat out Zach Braff for the award in 2005.
