Samurai Champloo is a Japanese animated program from the creator of Cowboy Bebop that chronicles the adventures of three travelers in feudal-era Japan. Despite its setting, the series incorporates elements of hip-hop culture into its fabric, including hip-hop-style music, graffiti art, and turntable scratching noises.

The series begins when two ronin samurai, Mugen and Jin, both arrive in town and get in trouble with the local governor. They soon meet and start fighting in a teahouse where the teenaged Fuu works, burning the teahouse down and landing them both in jail and scheduled for execution. Fuu helps them escape, but in return, she wants them to accompany her while she searches Japan for a mysterious man who she only describes as "the samurai who smells of sunflowers." Mugen and Jin follow, not particularly because they feel indebted to her, but in the end, it's not like they have anything better to do.

Over the course of the series we find out more about Mugen and Jin and why they are currently wandering, as well as Fuu's quest to find the sunflower samurai, a quest that is far more troublesome than it first appears. It has received a TV-MA rating for graphic violence.
