Pushing Daisies is a dramedy that airs on ABC. It focuses on Ned, a pie-maker with the gift of bringing people back from the dead. However, once he brings them back to life, if that which he brought back is alive for more than one minute, something else has to die. Additionally, if he touches that which he brought back to life again, they are then permanently dead. Ned works with private investigator Emerson Cod in finding out why and by who killed people and why for reward money.

In the first episode, Ned brings his childhood sweetheart Charlotte Charles, whom Ned refers to as "Chuck", back to life to find out who killed her. He ends up letting her live for more than one minute, meaning someone else, in this case the greedy funeral director, died. Chuck now lives with Ned and follows along on Ned and Emerson's jobs, much to Emerson's dismay.
