Paranoia Agent, known as Mousou Dairinin in Japan, is an anime series created by Satoshi Kon about a woman who is assaulted by a boy wielding a golden bat dubbed "Lil Slugger" by the press. Soon after the initial attack, a string of copycat hit-and-run incidents begin to occur around people who have hit the peak of despair. Starting with the first victim, two police detectives attempt to track down the mysterious perpetrator and have him locked up before more people get hurt. But, as the two detectives uncover more clues, they begin to uncover a more sinister plot beneath their initial hunches.
