Cooling a Six-Pack is the sixteenth episode of the second season of MythBusters, and the thirty-second episode overall.

The mystery is finally over! Watch as the MythBusters use ice, water, refrigerators, freezers and fire to test the fastest way to cool a six-pack. Then the team builds a new crash-test dummy ... and drops it 60 feet from a crane. The result is baptism by destruction for Buster 2.0, and a high-speed, high-impact crash the likes of which ... well, see for yourself. And finally, they may not have had iPods or remote controls to use them in, but did ancient peoples have batteries? Learn whether a crude form was invented more than 2,000 years ago.

Cooling a six-pack

The Myth

What is the best way to cool a six pack?

The Test

Firstly, they test to see if it possible to cool a six-pack by putting it in sand and lighting a fire above it. This method fails and only warms up the beer. They then try to determine what is the best way to cool a six pack. They try a number of different methods. The first test is to spray it with a fire extinguisher and learn that it is a very effective way to chill a beer. It took about three minutes to cool it from room temperature. Jamie and Adam also try a variety of common ways to cool a six-pack so they put beer in ice, ice and water, and ice, water, & salt. They learn that the best way to chill a beer quickly is ice, water, and salt. Not statisfied, they want to see if they can chill a beer in less than six minutes. Adam's device only gets it to 46 degrees , 10 degrees too warm. Jamie only gets his to about 43 degrees.

The Result

Busted. The original myth of burying a six-pack and burning it to chill your beer is busted.

Ancient Electricity

The Myth

A urn was found from 250BC-250AD which contained a variety of chemicals that are used in batteries.

The Test

The Build Team needs pots to turn into batteries, so Kari and Scottie go out to a potter and make 10 terra cotta pots. They build 10 batteries and find that a single one produces about 1/3 of a volt. Then they took up 10 of them in a series and succeed in getting 4 volts. They then try to figure out what they were used for and they discover three things: electroplating, pain relief, and religious experiances. For electroplating they actually determine that it is possible to electroplate metals using the ancient batteries. For pain relief, Scottie puts her life on the line and she finds out that it works effectively. Tory takes on the task of re-building the ark of the convenant. Instead of using the ancient batteries, they use the battery from Peeing on the Third Rail Revisited. Adam is told by the Build Team to touch the two angels with the ancient batteries and gets a serious shock. He then gets pretty annoyed at the build team for doing this, however he forgives them in the name of science.

The Result

Plausible. Based on their results, it may have been possible that they were used for electroplating, pain relief, or religious experiances.

Re-Building Buster and Destroying Earl

The Promise

They will destory Earl.

The Test

Enter Buster 2.0. Using wood that breaks at the same pressure as human bones and a new skeleton, Buster's inner workings are rebuilt. Now they need to make Buster's new body parts so they can mold them and create the body parts. Using the molds, they pour in a substance called dragonskin which is able to withstand much of the abuse that the Mythbusters put Buster through. After taking four days to rebuild Buster, they put him through his first test in his new body by dropping him from 60 feet at about 50 - 60 MPH into concrete. The Mythbusters and Build Team completely total the car.

The Result

Fulfilled. They completely total the car and find out that Buster's new body works really well.
