Mission: Impossible is a espionage drama that aired on CBS.
It follows the exploits of the IMF (Impossible Missions Force). The IMF is a big organisation, and has many teams, but the series focuses on the team led by Dan Briggs (and later, Jim Phelps). The IMF are given missions deemed impossible by the government, but with the help of disguises, technology, and deception, the IMF prove weekly that nothing is impossible.
Mission: Impossible was revived in 1988 in an updated version on ABC, followed by a film series starring Tom Cruise, based loosely on the original series.
The series was produced by Desilu Productions until December 1967 (ending with the second season episode "The Photographer"), then by successor Paramount Television from January 1968 (beginning with "The Spy") until series' end. CBS Television Distribution handles syndication of the show.
