From The TV IV
Masters of Science Fiction is a science fiction anthology program that aired on ABC. It is by the creators of Masters of Horror and has a similar format to that, as each episode features a self-contained short film. The idea behind Masters of Science Fiction was to bring "some of the genres most popular and highly regarded short stories" to the little screen. The authors whom the stories were selected from were John Kessel, Robert Heinlein, Howard Fast, Walter Mosley, Robert Sheckley, and Harlan Ellison. Renowned physicist Stephen Hawking introduced each episode. Six episodes were produced, but only four aired.
