Plot Overview

Monica's new hotel manager stirs up trouble at the casino, and Danny and Sam both must deal with issues that are even more personal than they had previously thought.

Fraud Gone Personal

Danny learns about a relationship his father had with a woman, who he is able to track down. He decides to go meet this woman, named Liz Hillier, to learn what her relationship was with his father. Liz is excited to meet Danny, and claims that she had heard a lot about him from Danny’s father. She even tells him that they were engaged to be married. Danny noticed some medical bills in Liz’s house earlier, and asks if she is having any financial problems. Though hesitant, she eventually agrees to let Danny loan her $50,000 that he is making on the sale of his house. Both Penny and Mary attempt to warn him about loaning money to someone that he barely knows, but he is insistent. Penny sales the house and tells Danny that she is going to a wedding in Palm Springs, but Danny finds airplane tickets to Miami, and so he becomes suspicious. But what he uncovers he could never have expected…. It turns out that Liz and Penny are mother and daughter con artists who have used Danny to get a loan (and commission on the sale of the house).

An Uncomfortable Work Environment

Shockingly, Sam’s half-brother Bobby is sleeping with, of all people, Monica. Sam is disgusted and shocked to learn of this news, and quickly begins to try and break the two up. She talks with Delinda who suggests talking to him, and so Sam does so, but Bobby is not as considerate as she would have hoped. She tells her brother that his relationship with Monica can create hostility in her work place. She also laughs when he suggests that perhaps he’s in love with Monica. Of course this angers Bobby who tells Sam that she should get a personal life so that she might know a little about love.

Sam is having problems with the new hotel manager, Olivia Douché, and approaches Monica about these problems. Monica agrees to talk with Olivia about these concerns… in exchange for Sam breaking up with Bobby for her. Sam doesn’t have a problem with this at all, and does so, but Bobby blames Sam for what happened. Eventually she is able to talk down her half-brother, and they grow closer as a result; reminiscing about old times.

The Inefficiency of Ms. Douché

Olivia Douché is the new hotel manager hired by Monica in the previous episode. Olivia specializes in making the hotel/casino more fiscally efficient. She says that it’s not all about gaming anymore, and that Las Vegas casinos are making more and more money on entertainment these days.

However she’s also controlling in dealing with the efficiency concerns. She approaches Delinda with some suggestions, though it angers Delinda to learn that they want to start using polyester uniforms. Likewise, Sam is angered when Olivia (or Ms. Douche as Sam calls her) decides to change the system so that some normal customers are no longer eligible for full compliments and tickets to events. In fact Sam goes to Ed (as Delinda had earlier) about these concerns over Olivia’s actions. Yet another person, Mike, has problems with Olivia when she tells him that he must fire 4 surveillance members due to “employee redundancy.” Ed approaches Olivia telling her that she is not making the hotel more efficient by causing problems with the staff, and fires her. He then rehires Mary to do the same job, but at the same time Monica was rehiring Olivia.

Angered about the whole ordeal, and how much Monica has changed the responsibilities of his own job, Ed tells Monica that he quits.
