Plot Overview

Mike and Danny are complaining about how the criminals seem to get all of the breaks these days. They begin to reminisce about how great things must have used to be in the Jubilee, the former casino on which the Montecito was built.

The Jubilee

The flashback begins in the 1960s. Ed, Danny and Mike walk into the Jubilee determined to get jobs. Ed talks to the owner, Buster, who threatens to have his bouncers throw Ed out if he doesn't leave on his own. Ed sends in the gaming commission to shut down the casino, thus extorting the owner. Each wind up with high profile jobs making 100k per week. Ed is the president, Mike is in charge of security, and Danny runs the restaurants and entertainment.

Mary works as a waitress as a restaurant in the casino. Ed, Danny, and Mike are sitting down taking orders when the guy who runs the restaurant, Ray, tells Mike he must leave because they do not allow "negroes" in their restaurant. Ed informs Ray that he's the new president, but Ray doesn't believe him, and so Ed punches him the stomach and tells him that he is fired.

Delinda shows up at the casino and goes looking for the showgirl tryouts. Ed finds her there and tells her that he wants her to go back home. But Delinda says that she came to Las Vegas looking for adventure, and if Ed doesn't want her as a showgirl he'll have to find something else for her to do. She suggests putting her in charge of the dress shop (which doesn't yet exist).

Mike is following a guy he believes to be a cheater. He can't figure out what he's doing though, until Delinda overhears them talking about what the supposed cheater does, and tells them that it is called "past-posting" where the person will up their bets after getting a win and before the dealer pays out.

Sam goes to Danny's room when she finds out that he has a room at the casino. When Danny gets a call from Ed requesting that he find Sam because she is the best call-girl at the casino, he is finding out that she is a call-girl for the first time. Sam quickly leaves when she learns that the 21 year old kid she is going to service is a virgin, because they go for $500.

Buster is now in charge of the complaints department, but because he is constantly bothering Ed, Ed tells him to now go home and think of good ideas for the casino to make money. Again Buster comes to Ed with some suggestions. He introduces Ed to a doctor who has invented breast implants. Although ed likes the way Buster is thinking, he tells him to go help Delinda work out the business end of her dress shop.

Mike still can't figure out what the man who is cheating is doing. As it is 60's technology they must sit in the roof above the tables and watch with binoculars. Danny decides to help and sets up a camera above the table and says that this will "revolutionize security in Vegas." Danny and Mike sit down watching the tapes and eventually Mike figures it out. The guy is not uping his bet after he wins a hand, he is lowering the bets when he loses. They had only been watching winning hands and therefore overlooked this. Danny and Mike take care of it the way they do in the 60s, by cracking the guys hand with a baseball bat.

Sam goes to see the kid Randall, who says that he doesn't want to lose his virginity this way, but he doesn't want his father to know that he hadn't gone through with it. Sam later goes back to the kid's dad and says that Randall was amazing in bed. The dad decides that he wants her services next, but she brushes him off. He gets angry and tells Danny that if she is not thrown out that he will leave (he's a high roller). Danny goes to Sam and tells her that she can't conduct business here, but she tells him that they can make more money because she will bring her clients there and suggest that they stay at the Jubilee. Danny likes the idea, calling Sam a hostess.

Ray, the guy who was fired by Ed for racism, has been harrassing Mary whom he blames for losing his job. He threatens to hurt Mary if she doesn't get his job back for him. Danny goes to see Ray and says that they are interested in bringing him back. They all meet with Ed who says that he wants Ray back to work a new restaurant he is building. He takes Ray out to the site where the construction is to take place and kills Ray.

Things were certainly easier back then.
