Overview
A nice 3-disc release from Warner Home Video. Each disc is double-sided and has a few episodes, 15 in total plus the pilot. The pilot runs 72 minutes without commercials, despite the advertising on the box.
Disc 1 has special features like an interview with David Carradine and the creators. The advertising says that the picture is from "all new digital transfers", and indeed the picture is quite superb, considering the limitations of 1970s cameras. The audio is Dolby 2.0 monaural and is also very nice. The only downside to this release is the altered aspect ratio, as mentioned below.

Alterations
This DVD release was "cropped" from its original 4:3 (1.33:1 television) aspect ratio to 16:9 (1.77:1 Anamorphic/Theatrical style). Hence, picture data that was originally filmed is removed from the top and bottom of the screen.
It does not seem to effect most scenes negatively, however, and it is not known whether the producers approved the cropping. It should be noted that the NTSC DVD releases of seasons 2 and 3 are presented in their original 4:3 aspect ratio.
