Season Two of Kukla, Fran and Ollie, the first over the NBC network, premiered on November 29, 1948.

On November 29, 1948, Kukla, Fran and Ollie made its first network broadcast over the Midwestern NBC network. While NBC-owned WNBQ (now WMAQ-TV) made its first broadcast in October of that year, the show's contract with WBKB (by then a CBS affiliate, eventually WBBM) ran through June of 1949, and the show was broadcast to the NBC network through WBKB facilities until June 10, 1949, after which production and local broadcast rights moved to WNBQ.

The series finally made it to the full network on January 12, 1949, one of the first network shows broadcast after the coaxial cable linking the East and Midwest was completed. At the outset of coast-to-coast service, fourteen stations carried the program live, while seventeen more affiliates not connected to the network line carried the series on an approximately two-week delay via kinescope.
