Referbacks

  • Before Ollie tells Fran about his money-making plan, he has to reassure her it doesn't involve "pageants", which implies that this theatrical element was already a well-established part of the show.
  • Kukla refers to a previous, now-lost episode where he and Ollie played delivery boys.

Trivia

The Show

Behind the Scenes

This episode originally aired on the NBC network through the facilities of WBKB-TV Chicago, one month after the Midwest and Eastern networks were linked for live broadcasts via coaxial cable.

Burr Tillstrom's notes on the first decade of KFO indicate that the first kinescope recordings of the series were made in February 1949, making this one of the earliest episodes recorded for stations not yet able to receive a live network feed.

Quotes

  • Fran: Have you ever had anyone sit with you?
Ollie: No, no, as a matter of fact. No I didn't, because mother and father, you know, always were pretty busy at home and, well, when they did go out on their nocturnal flights once in awhile, they took me along because, you know, they wanted me to fly as a young dragon just like they did. Of course, it turned out we were all grounded after the First World War.
