Behind the Scenes

Allusions and References

  • The song Bobby sings for the high schoolers is "Wannabe" by the Spice Girls.
  • Bobby tells the seniors that his growth is stunted to which one of them asks "Like that kids on that old TV show?" He is obviously referring to Gary Coleman from Diff'rent Strokes.
  • The music playing in the Port-a-Gribble is "Feels So Good" by Chuck Mangione.

Memorable Moments

  • Hank finally gives in and uses Dale's "Port-a-Gribble". However, due to its use and wear, he goes for the toilet paper, causing it to fall apart, revealing him in mid-squat, much to his horror and the other guys' amusement.

Quotes

  • Bill: Hank, can I use your bathroom?
Hank: No!
Bill: But I locked myself out of my house.
Hank: No!
Bill: Can I use your phone to call a locksmith?
Hank: If I let you use the phone, you'll sneak in and use the toilet. Look, I'd prefer it if no one ever had to use a bathroom. But until that day, let's just make the best of it and respect one another's privacy.
Dale: (reading beer can) "From the lukewarm headwaters of the mighty Brazos River--"
Bill: Stop it! Stop it!
(Bill dumps the cooler and carries it away)
Dale: Well, it is his cooler.
  • Dale: With the finest lotions, the softest tissues, and the most pleasing lighting design, the Port-a-Gribble will be a 4x5x8' slice of paradise.
Bill: Finally, a vacation I can afford.
  • Bill: Oh! I feel like I'm a millionaire construction worker.
  • Peggy: Hank, we are getting his bike right now. If we move fast, maybe we can still find his pants.
Hank: Peggy, if we get his bike now, we'll be getting it for him until he's 16. Then we'll be getting his truck.
  • Security Guard: Look, I know it's tough in there for a freshman. They're animals. I got some advice for you. Puff out your chest and walk like this. I saw a gorilla do it on a nature show. Scared the crap out of me.
  • Blonde Kid: We're in fifth place behind a Catholic girls' school. Those chicks are tough.
  • Bobby: I'll get the tickets tomorrow.
Connie: Bobby, they're sold out. It turns out all those nerds who said they have girlfriends at other schools weren't lying.
  • Connie: I thought they liked you because you were so cool, not pitied you because you're a freak.
Bobby: No, I have the medical condition. You're the freak. You've gotta keep this straight or we're never gonna pull it off!
  • Hank: Okay, Dale. You win. I need to use your port-a-room.
Bill: Oh! So, now Mister I'll-only-share-a-toilet-with-my-wife wants to share one with us. Take a walk, toilet snob!
Dale: Hold on, Bill. Here at Port-a-Gribble, we reserve the right to refuse service to... no one. No shirt, no shoes, yes service!
