Johnny Test is an animated, half-hour series that aired on the Kids' WB! block on The WB and later The CW before moving to Cartoon Network.
The series stars Johnny, a boy who lives with his genius sisters Susan and Mary. Johnny's sisters often use him to test their experiments. Susan and Mary's experiments are often intended to win the heart of their neighbor, Gil. Johnny also has a dog named Dukey, which his sisters genetically engineered to talk. The kids' parents, Lila and Hugh, are parents with roles reversed from the common household parents. Lila, the mother, makes the income for the family, while Hugh, the father, is obsessed with household chores like cleaning.
The first season was, for the most part, produced in-house at Warner Bros. Animation. Some episodes had their storyboarding outsourced to Atomic Cartoons in Vancouver, BC, Canada. Originally, the show was to be canceled and wouldn't return to the new lineup of The CW. Canada based Cookie Jar Entertainment decided to come forth to un-cancel the show, turning it into a US/Canada co-production. This resulted in a lower budget, forcing the show to switch to Flash animation. In addition, the art crew at Warner Bros. was let go, and the work was all sent to Cookie Jar's division, Coliseum. Voiceover work was still performed at Voicebox Productions in Vancouver.
The series was created by Scott Fellows, creator of Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide. A fourth season debuted on 9/10/09.
