John Doe is a show about a man who woke up naked on an island off the coast of Seattle. He quickly learned that he seemingly knew everything - except who he was, why he was colorblind (yet could see certain objects in color), what the mysterious mark on his chest was, and why he knew everything. As he continued his search for answers to his own mysteries, he helped the Seattle Police solve their mysteries. Near the end, the series built up an ongoing story about an evil organization named "Phoenix", who seemed to know, and want, John Doe.
The series ended on a big cliffhanger since the creators believed the show was going to get a second season.
