Allusions and References

• Unintended Acceleration: On November 23, 1986, 60 Minutes broadcast a segment on purported sudden acceleration in the Audi 5000 when the brake pedal was pushed. The broadcast also featured a demonstration with a car that had actually been rigged to go out of control. Audi sales in the USA subsequently collapsed and took years to recover. Customer claims about unintended acceleration have been reported for all major manufacturers and are usually attributed by independent experts to pedal error by the driver (e.g. [1]).
