It Had to Be You is the pilot for a game show intended for NBC in 1966 which was redeveloped in 1969 as He Said, She Said. That show in turn was revived in 1974 as Tattletales. Ed McMahon was the host.
Essentially a hybrid of Password and The Newlywed Game, the game pits four regular couples who are spotted a $50 stake. One spouse from each couple is secluded. The on-stage spouses are now given words in which to make an association and an explanation for that association. The first three to raise their hands do so. After three words, the secluded spouses are brought back. Each word is read followed by the association. The spouse recognizing his/her mate's association raises his/her hand and must match it. Doing so correctly scores $30. Incorrect responses deduct $10.
In the second half, the mates switch places. The couple with the highest score at the show's end doubles their money.
