Plot Overview
Captain Devane's ex-wife pays him a frantic visit in the middle of the night, claiming that she rear-ended a parked car on the Pacific Coast Highway and accidentally killed a girl. Charlie and Sara, his ex-wife, return to the scene, only to find the car missing, but broken tail lights are found that support her story. Not long afterward, the body of the girl Sara claimed to have hit is found on the beach, and subsequently, Sara is found murdered in her bathtub. Hunter and McCall are pulled off the case by the vengeful Captain, but the Chief orders them reassigned to the case and for Devane to take a leave of absence. Hunter then picks up the investigation, which leads to a pair of rising movie stars, but he also has to contain his out-of-control Captain, who's bent on revenge.
