Plot Overview

The unexpected visit from the Inspector General puts a temporary hold on Hogan's plan to get Olsen out of the camp using a diversion. The Inspector General having questioned Klink about the strange occurances at Stalag 13, and Hogan's protest about inhumane treatment convinces the Inspector General that Klink needs to be replaced. But, given that there has never been a successful escape from Stalag 13, a perfect no-escape record, the Inspector General wants Klink to accompany him to Berlin, and be placed in charge of all Luft Stalags. Klink is so touched that he accepts the offer. Hogan and his men, on the other hand, are touched in another way. Downheartened, they know that Klink's transfer means that they would get a replacement who may not be so easy to tame as Klink. The replacement could hinder their operation. Hogan and his men must now make Klink look bad before the Inspector General, before he and Klink depart from the camp.

Notes

This episode shows one of a number of times that Hogan deliberately foils one of his own plans. Plus, one of the few times that he becomes too smart for his own good. He nearly loses Klink as Camp Commandant.
