Sylar is shown stumbling through the streets of Odessa, TX, after his encounter with Mr. Bennet, who shot Sylar. He gets a sewing kit and stitches himself up. Sylar then hitches a ride with a trucker hauling beer. When Sylar finds out that he isn't going directly to Virginia, he gets the trucker to drop him off, and kills him by telekinetically impaling him with broken bottles.
Sylar then demonstrates the ability that he took from Charlie, the waitress in Midland, TX that he killed. He reads the instruction manual for the truck, and remembers all of it, and is able to drive the truck. He is soon chased by police, and he realizes that a truck that has gone off its route would start to draw suspicion. Sylar leans out of the door and creates a patch of ice on the road which causes the police cars to crash. He then, somehow, ejects himself from the cab of the truck as it crashes over a ridge to avoid a roadblock, and catches himself on a tree branch. Sylar says that the last name he remembers from the list that Chandra Suresh created was Zane Taylor, and that he's running out of opportunities to gain new powers.
